Records Clerk – Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office

The Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for a Records Clerk position. The Records Clerk is appointed by the Sheriff and serves as the first point of contact for the public at the front counter.
General duties are responsibilities: Answering phones, greeting visitors, maintaining records and files, processing payments, and making daily trips to the courts. Typing Firearm Purchase Permits/Red Light Permits; answering phones; maintaining files; receipting in payments for customers at the front counter for Firearm purchase permits, VIN inspections and civil process deposits; updating and entering Sex Offender registrations; assigning Child Abuse Neglect, Adult Protective Service Reports and License pick up orders to deputies at the request of the Chief Deputy; data entry; other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Comprehensive knowledge of English and spelling; proficiency with office equipment; understanding of basic accounting principles and financial recordkeeping. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize, and complete assigned tasks efficiently and within established deadlines. Skilled in maintaining complex clerical and legal records, logs, and reports. Ability to exercise independent judgment and significant discretion when making decisions in compliance with applicable laws, ordinances, regulations, and established policies. Ability to interact with the public in a tactful and courteous manner and to maintain effective working relationships with public officials, law enforcement personnel, coworkers, and the general public.
Requirements: Handle financial transactions, complete receipts and properly count back money; maintain communications with other departments and agencies; good public relations with the community; ability to maintain confidentiality.
Must be able to pass criminal background check. Position is available for Veteran’s Preference. Scotts Bluff County is an EEO/AA employer.
