GIS/Mapping Department

The GIS/Mapping Department serves the County in several areas by providing location-based data and mapping services. We offer print and online maps, but our true strength is in the power of GIS analytic capabilities. GIS/Mapping helps to visually answer questions and provide solutions for all County departments, local government, and the public.

Scotts Bluff County’s GIS is maintained by certified professionals primarily in the following areas:

Assessment & Land Records – The department is responsible for maintaining and updating county parcel lines with land splits and combinations. GIS technicians also digitize an agricultural land use layer on a triennial basis for the County Assessor. Other layers maintained for Assessment and Land Record purposes are subdivisions, plats, jurisdiction and district boundaries.  The information contained in these layers are for the purpose of Assessment only and are not to be used in place of an official survey.

Addressing & NG9-1-1 – The GIS Manager also serves as the County Master Street Address Guide (MSAG) Coordinator. The department maintains a database of all streets and addresses within Scotts Bluff County for the Scotts Bluff County 911/Communications Center. Accurate street naming and site addressing is crucial for quick location in emergency situations. New addresses in the County are calculated and assigned by technicians in the office and are provided to necessary agencies. In addition to these responsibilities, GIS maintains all emergency response district data for the Communications Center.

Emergency Incidents– GIS technicians are always on-call for any major emergency event in Scotts Bluff County. We are proud to provide in-office and on-site support for our local Emergency Management team, fire departments, and law enforcement agencies during emergency incidents.

Supported Departments – The GIS/Mapping Office houses the County Surveyor’s library of historic survey documents. This allows the GIS Department to help the public with research and parcel boundary verification.
